Laurie Weahkee is the former Executive Director for the Native American Voters Alliance and NM Native Vote. She has led numerous issue and electoral campaigns in Native American communities for over 25 years. She received a Cultural Preservation Award from the NM Department of Indian Affairs for her work to protect Native American sacred sites. Ms. Weahkee served on the All Pueblo Council of Governors (APCG) legislative committee, NM Governor Lujan Grisham’s Statewide Complete Count Committee, and the NM Secretary of State’s Native American Vote Task Force. Laurie is Diné, Cochiti and Zuni Pueblo and has one son.
