Em graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in 2013 and received a Master of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin in 2017. She has more than a decade’s experience as an editor, writing consultant, and teacher. Prior to joining Advance, she was a Fellow at Milkweed Editions, an independent publisher of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.
Em continues to research and study the connections and crossroads of Indigeneity and horror. They are a member of the Sault Ste Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and currently reside in Minneapolis. Outside of work, she can be found tending to her growing houseplant collection, walking around lakes, thrifting for haunted antiques, writing, and reading far too many books.
