The United States has 574 federally recognized tribes and 66 state recognized tribes. According to 2020 U.S. Census data, Indigenous peoples represent 3.4% of the total population of the United States. In order to achieve parity in political representation, we need to elect 17,093 Native leaders to office at all levels across the country.
This is a work in progress, as Native peoples are often left out of demographic data and research. If you are a Native elected or appointed official, please fill out this form so that we can make sure you are included in our data.
