South Dakota

South Dakota has nine federally recognized tribes and no state recognized tribes. According to 2020 U.S. Census data, Indigenous peoples represent 11.3% of the total population of South Dakota. In order to achieve parity in political representation, we need to elect 1,088 Native leaders to office at all levels across the state.

This is a work in progress, as Native peoples are often left out of demographic data and research. If you are a Native elected or appointed official, please fill out this form so that we can make sure you are included in our data.
