Prairie Rose Seminole (Arikara, Northern Cheynne) joins Advance Native Political Leadership as our Program Manager, involved with the organization’s leadership and core work to develop strategy, coordinate national efforts, develop partnerships, and build curriculum to train candidates and leaders to run for elected office.

Seminole resides in North Dakota and has been involved in ND state politics over two decades, including serving in appointed public office. Prairie Rose found their passion for organizing early. With nearly 20 years of organizing, leadership development, dedicated to building inclusive movement, shifting the balance of power to create real positive change for Indigenous people and communities. Prairie Rose has led campaigns to elect candidates and organized and trained on issues from health care system reform, racial and environmental justice, gender justice and marriage equality. She previously served as Director of the ND Native Vote coordinating statewide initiatives. In 2018, Seminole partnered with Western Native Voice, ND Native Vote to join efforts to inform, engage, and equip Native Voters in ND after the Supreme Court decision to uphold ND voter ID requirements.

Seminole most recently served as the American Indian Alaska Native Program Director for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America serving American Indian, Alaska Native communities around the United States as an educator, and advocate, deconstructing colonial systems of oppression. Prairie Rose also served as a Policy Analyst with the Indigenous Environmental Network.

Seminole has served on the Fargo Human Relations Commission in Fargo, the Midwest Advisory Council to the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and currently sits on the advisory council to the Olamina Fund, Board of Directors of Humanities North Dakota, Board of Directors Northern Plains Sustainable Agriculture Society and the Native American Development Corporation of North Dakota and Board Member of iVoteFor. They have held faculty appointments with the Tri-College NEW Leadership Institute since 2005 and is a certified trainer with Vote Run Lead, national non-partisan organizations that train candidates, campaign workers, advocates and activists.
